Took my '04 Honda CR-V to this shop to have them check out a blinking "D" light. I don't have much experience with other auto shops and there are a lot of good reviews here, but this was my experience. TL;DR: Friendly staff, convenient location, some communication issues with scheduling, possibly a bit pricey, but I’d consider going back if I had another issue. To start, everyone I talked to was friendly, the location is really convenient for me (I could walk home) and the place seems well kept. I scheduled my appointment online and was assigned an 8 a.m. time slot two days later. When I dropped off my car, I was quoted $165 for an hour to diagnose and the woman also asked if I was ok leaving it overnight if needed, which to me was an obvious "yes". I left thinking that I would get a call in 1-2 hours considering I had an appointment and already waited 2 days. I called a few hours later since I hadn't heard from them and was told I had misunderstood and that they would charge me an hour but they didn't know when they would get to it. As it stood, they were planning to look at it the next day, because I had indicated I was "flexible" by saying they could keep it overnight.. I chalked it up to miscommunication. I told them sooner would be better as it's our only car and they said they would try to look at it by the end of the day, which they were able to do. The report they gave me was that they scanned the engine for codes, got code P0845 which indicated 3rd gear pressure switch needed to be replaced. I asked if scanning for codes really took 1hr of labor. I was told the mechanic did some other checks too to verify the code.. In hindsight, I’ll probably use an Autozone or get my own OBD2 scanner in the future. Their repair estimate was $355.87, with labor at 1.5 hours ($165/hr) and the part priced at $108.37, bringing the total to around $400 with tax. I later found a video online and ended up doing the repair myself in under an hour. I also was able to purchase the OEM part on Amazon for $55. Lastly, they charge a 3% credit card processing fee, so keep that in mind.
